HEADING SOUTH (CONTINUED)
The plan was to leave on the 29th of September, but the battery for the motorhome was dead. Started the motorhome once, but not again. Spent a few hours charging batteries and finally went to Wal-Mart and bought a new one. By then it was too late to leave, so we just camped out next to the cottage as though we were visiting, and left the next morning. We drove to Faribault, MN, and stayed the night. Pam said we will not stay there again as the TV reception is terrible. Next night we were at Wallace State Park, MO. Good TV reception from Kansas City and only $14.
Then on to Rockwell RV Park on I-40 west of Oklahoma City, OK. They have good cable TV, instant telephone, indoor heated pool and hot tub and the weather is in the 70's. We visited Tinker Air Force Base to pick up groceries at the commissary and for me to get my hair cut. Pam thinks they cut all the brown hairs and just left the gray ones. Time for the Grecian Formula.
Had a flat tire on the motorhome the next day, then another the day after. Car started running bad. Bought all new tires in New Braunfels, TX and a new Town and Country minivan in San Antonio. Stayed two weeks in Pioneer RV Park, Port Aransas, and got to FunNSun on the 1st of November. What a trip.

THINGS ARE LOOKING UP AT FUNNSUN
There is a real change in the mood of the people in the park. All the people we met seem happy with the attitude of the new manager and now Randy Tope has been appointed Assistant Manager. Randy is a friendly guy and has done much to help the computer club in the past.

VETERANS FREE SUPPER AT GOLDEN CORRAL
Each year we have gone with our friends in the park that served in the military to the free supper at Golden Corral. This year it is on the 10th of November. It starts at 5 PM but it pays to go early as the lines get very long after 4:45.

NEW SPRINT TELEPHONE PLAN
We have been dragging our heels about switching from our $30 free weekend Sprint plan on our house phone to free nights and weekends on a cell phone for about the same price. Now we are planning to switch to Sprint Complete Sense Unlimited for unlimited local, local toll and domestic long distance packaged together for $47.50. Additional calling features include Caller ID, Call Waiting, Voicemail, Find-Me Call Forwarding, 3-Way Calling, Speed Dial 8, and Notify Me! It will be only $2.50 more for anytime unlimited long distance over the $30 long distance and $15 SBC charge we would have had. It would have been $69 to connect but we already signed up with SBC for $38 connection fee so they said they would switch us over for free. It is available in San Bonito but not in the woods up north, so we will be back on just weekends in summer.

FUNNSUN COMPUTER CLUB WEB PAGE
Lou asked what was the URL for the FunNSun Computer Club web page. The page is maintained by Bonnie Morton and includes links to other club members pages.

PERILS OF BEING ON THE ROAD
When we left Faribault, MN, I heard a noise and Pam found the antenna was still up. We drove through the RV park, under the canopy at the gas station, and under a telephone line next to the gas station, before zipping down the highway. We were very lucky.

USING SAM'S CLUB CARD TO ACCESS THE INTERNET
When we got to Rockwell RV Park, we got instant telephone service for $2 per night. I needed to dial into AWESOMENET to access the web, or pay AOL $6 per hour, so I set my modem up to dial the string that John Tromp had demonstrated.
I had to change the string as the Sam's club Card dialing procedure has changed. I used 1800xxxxxxx,,,,450xxxxxxx58,,,,9564432000,, (the access 800 number, my card number, and then the AWESOMENET phone number). The commas are to allow time for the instructions in between dialing. Now I can be on the web for $2.08 per hour when on the road. It worked well until Pam and I went for a walk and when I got home the computer had connected to the web by itself and used up all my minutes.

WIRELESS WEB FOR FUNNSUN?
When we stayed at Pioneer RV Park I used their high speed wireless web system again. They charge $2.50 a day, $12 a week, or $21 a month. RVer's Mailbox has a list of many RV Parks that have high speed wireless web, from free to $5 a night. It would be a great addition to our park. Maybe the computer club could get a committee to look into it.
