NEW BEGINNERS COMPUTER CLASS STARTS WEDNESDAY NIGHT
I will teach a beginners computer class for those with laptops, in room 5, starting Wednesday night, January 14, at 6:30 PM. Sign up is in the activity office. When we have more desktop computers available, I will teach courses using them. Anyone wanting to help, please let me know.

FRIDAY BEGINNERS CLASS IS FULL
For those that signed up for the class today, it starts at 1 PM. It will be task oriented and individuals will leave after they have accomplished the days tasks. I will leave at 4 PM. For those with laptops, please bring your mouse if you have one. There are 28 people signed up and if any of those would switch to the Wednesday class, it would be appreciated.

IF IT SAYS ‘PASS THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW', DON'T
The new virus that turns your pots black and burns your eggs, the story of how congressmen don't pay social security, the story that Bill Gates is tracking an E-mail and will send a check based on how many people you send it to. When a person gets their first computer, I always wonder how long it will be before they pass one of these hoaxes along.
After they tell me never again, some sent another within a month. If you are tempted to send something on, check it out first, those you send it to probably have seen it a few times already.

DON'T OVEREXPOSE OUR E-MAIL ADDRESSES
All too often, when I do get the ‘Pass this on to everyone you know' e-mail, the person does not send it as a blind copy. I then get to see the e-mail address of everyone the person knows, and they get to see mine, and it gets forwarded on around the world to places I probably wish it wouldn't go to. Could that be how the spammers get my address? If you are not sure how to do a blind copy, see my instructions or ask at the club meeting.

Sid mentioned he got 5% back on his purchases on his CITI Master Card. I called CITI but the operator could not help me. On December 28th there was an ad in the Sunday Parade Magazine for CITI Dividend card with 5% cash back until January 1, 2005. Call 1-800-497-6406 by February 15. My friend Jim sent me a link to Old Version dot com. I was not sure what it was the old version of, but when I went there, there was everything from AOL to Kaazaa to ICQ, forty-six programs in all. Just the other day, someone was looking for a copy of AOL version 5 as it was the only version they could use with their old laptop.

MEXICAN FIESTA DINNER, SHOW AND DANCE FRIDAY, JANUARY 16
The park will have the annual Mexican fiesta in the dance hall. The food is good plus Folklorico entertainment and dancing to the Miller Express. Get tickets in room 2 by January 12.

LINE DANCE POT LUCK/DANCE SUNDAY
The line dancers will have a pot luck Jan 11 at 1 PM followed by a free dance at 2 PM in the dance hall. Everyone is welcome to come, bring a dish to pass, drink and tableware.
