SEARCHING ON A PAGE

If you are looking for something on a page with text, push the Ctrl and F keys to bring up a ‘Find' box and enter the word. It works in my address book and favorite places (bookmark) box, also in my word processor and spreadsheet program.

WEB PAGE BUILDING WORKSHOP

I will be doing a three session web page building workshop using a free download program starting Monday night, Jan 27, from 6 to 8 PM. It will be hands on, from how to design your page to actually loading your page onto the Internet. You bring your ideas and pictures (or we can take them there) and I will supply the program and web space.

I MISSED THE WELCOME PACKET

Someone asked if I had received my FunNSun Welcome Packet. Seems if you go to the registration office and ask for a blue coupon for a welcome packet and take it to the sales office, you get a cloth bag with goodies in it. Mine had two mugs, a little calendar, two pens, a magnet sign, and two note pads, all with the FunNSun logo on it. When I mentioned it at line dancing everyone said they already had theirs. Guess I was last on this one.

ANOTHER FREE DOG RACE BET

I mentioned the booklet in the park office and activity office called ‘Rio Grande Valley Travelhost Happy Camper' that has a coupon for a free $2 bet at the dog track on page L21. There is another coupon on page L6.

SHORT CUT TO OPEN WINDOWS EXPLORER WITH (C:) EXPANDED

John gave me a shortcut to make the C: drive open to show the sub folders when you open Windows Explorer in XP. Go to ‘Start', ‘All Programs', ‘Accessories', ‘windows Explorer' and right click on it. Click on properties and then the shortcut tab. Cut and paste ‘ %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\ ' (not the quote marks) in the ‘Target' box,

TASTE OF BROWNSVILLE DIRECTIONS

I put the driving directions, a map and some pictures on the web page linked below. There is a couple that would appreciate a ride. If anyone would like to take them along, let me know. Monday, Jan 20, 6 to 9 PM at the Brownsville Civic Center. Fifty-five people are going from FunNSun so far. Tickets are $10 in advance and it is all you can eat and drink. I have tickets in advance so we do not have to buy them at the door. See me if you are interested. The map and pictures are at:

DEMONSTRATION ON SAM'S CLUB CALLING CARD

John Tromp will give a demo a week from tomorrow on using your Sam's Club phone card to connect to your ISP when you are on the road. It would be good for people coming to FunNSun or any campground with a phone connection to call long distance to their provider.

DEMO ON SPEAK AND TYPE AND TEXT TO VOICE

I had talked to Ken Murray and he showed me his text to voice program that will read text. When I got home I checked ‘Help' in XP and found I have text to voice and speech to text. It works on Word and Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. Here is a way to listen to those long E-mails while not even at the computer. I am going to try it for typing the News Notes next time (no time today). It allows you to give commands like 'print' and 'save' by speaking also. I will do the demo at the Jan 27 meeting after John does his demo.
