TRIP TO LONDON
In 2002 we had planned to go to London but there were no flights scheduled so we went to Japan. When I called Kelly Annex, Lackland Air Force Base, TX (in San Antonio), they had a flight to Germany on Tuesday, Oct 12. We flew to Dover AFB, Delaware, and then on to Ramstein AFB, Germany on a C5 giant cargo plane. We caught a refueler leaving Ramstein for Mildenhall RAF base in England shortly after we arrived. From Kelly to England in 24 hours.
We stayed at Mildenhall for three nights making arrangements for the trip to London and recuperating from the flight over. We then spent four nights in London, riding the tube (subway) and sightseeing (Tower of London, Harrods Department store, Paddington station, Hyde Park, etc.). Then back to Mildenhall where we caught a refueler going to McConnell AFB, Kansas (in Wichita). We rented a car and drove the 620 miles back to San Antonio, staying one night in a motel. We left on the 12th and were back to Kansas on the 23rd. Pam finally got to see London, but didn't shop much because with the exchange rate, what cost one pound cost nearly two dollars, really took the fun out of it.

BACK AT FUNNSUN
We arrived back on Oct 27th. Kissed the ground we made it. After two flat tires last year, and having the brakes on the tag axle stick driving into San Antonio, I was glad to be back.
The heat has been unbearable. They say it has been in the 90's for two weeks, but is to cool into the 80's next week. I do my chores in the morning and then hit the pool.
We bought tomato plants today and I will be busy planting them tomorrow. Can't be too early.

HUMMINGBIRD HATCHERY
Thanks to Jan for sending this web site. A lady found a hummingbird nest and got pictures all the way from the egg to leaving the nest. Took 24 days from birth to flight.
