THE BEARS AGAIN AND AGAIN
About every other year we have had a visit by bears, often at night and we only saw the smashed bird feeders to know they came. Now they came four times in a week in May, two nights in June, and then three nights this month. They have become a pest, breaking the bird feeders and the shepherds crooks. I have stopped putting out the finch food, suet, and sunflower seeds, only providing sugar water for the humming birds. The ducks still come for their daily corn handout, but the bears can find another feed trough!

MORE TV WITH DISH
Pam and I have decided to get a Dish Network satellite dish, since we can get our local channels for free from Wausau and Harlingen. The problem is the same as buying a cell phone, there are too many choices. We can buy or rent. We can buy from our big dish provider, a store like Circuit City, Radio Shack, Sears, Best Buy, or from Dish Network. We can get one, two, three, or four rooms, with or without digital video recorders (DVRs).
We decided to get 120 channels plus our local channels in two rooms with two DVRs for $44.95 a month. The equipment and installation are free and we can just return the equipment when done. It will also allow us to use it on the road in our motor home. We will be looking for help as to how people wire them in their motorhomes.
So far the biggest problem is we are watching and recording so many more programs, we still have conflicts over who gets to watch what.

PIG ROASTS FOR 2004
We went to the little rice Fire Dept. pig roast in July and today we went to the Kathan Inn pig roast. In August we have the Lone Pine Landing pig roast on the 21st and the Sportsman's Chalet pig roast on the 28th. What we like is that the pig roasts are like pot lucks only you don't have to bring a dish to pass. Always great food and more than enough to eat.

WHAT WAS IT??
And the answer is - a gutter rake for cleaning leaves from your gutter if the gutters are overflowing in a rain storm. Honest, I'm not making that up. I just can't see anyone out in a downpour using it.

FIXING PICTURES OUT OF FOCUS
I took some pictures that are terrible, and saw in a forum on cameras a mention of Focus Magic, a program to fix out of focus pictures. Have not tried it yet.
